Atria’s Statement Against Human, Labor, and Sex Trafficking

Atria Collective, formerly known as WomenSafe, transitioned to our new name and website in October 2022 to reflect the full scope of our mission to end gender-based violence through advocacy, education, and social change.

As part of this transition, our WomenSafe website was retired, and unfortunately, that domain was later acquired by a company promoting mail-order brides. This development is deeply troubling to Atria Collective as we firmly believe that mail-order bride practices are a form of human, labor, and sex trafficking—a pervasive and damaging violation of human rights and a form of gender-based violence.

Any trafficking of a person, including mail-order bride systems, perpetuates cycles of exploitation, power and control, and abuse. It commodifies individuals, strips away autonomy, and contributes to the normalization of gender-based violence. Atria Collective unequivocally condemns these practices and remains committed to ending all forms of gender-based violence and supporting those directly impacted by it.

We have explored our legal and administrative options to reclaim the WomenSafe domain without success. While the situation with the WomenSafe domain is regrettable, it reinforces the significance of our work. We encourage supporters to visit our official website at www.AtriaVT.org and join us in our mission to end gender-based violence. Together, we can drive meaningful change and create a community free from violence and exploitation.
